How It All Started
Hurney's Daycare and Nursery began with a simple, powerful idea: that children deserve more than just supervision — they deserve a place where they truly belong.
Our founder Ruth started caring for just a few children out of genuine love for kids and a deep belief in the importance of those earliest years. Word spread through the Pembroke community, and what started as a small gathering of little ones quickly grew into a beloved institution.
Ruth poured her heart into building something lasting — a place with real relationships, consistent care, and a warm, family-like atmosphere. When the time came, she passed that legacy on to family, ensuring the spirit and values she had built would carry forward for generations.
Carrie Boucher
Carrie has been working in childcare since 2002, and has been leading Hurney's with the same warmth and professionalism that Ruth established. She knows every child by name, every parent by heart, and every staff member's strengths.
Under Carrie's leadership, Hurney's continues to be a place where professional excellence and genuine warmth go hand in hand. She believes deeply that the early years are the most important years, and that every child deserves to be seen, heard, and celebrated.
